The Evolution of This Year’s practice
This summer I uprooted my practice of almost 20 years from brick and mortar. Next I dove straight into a personal practice of saying “Yes” to every new version of how we can work. I’m not going to lie. It was uncomfortable at times, often I barely broke even, but it’s altered my personal journey into a much more grounded experience, transcending into more meaningful sessions. Make no mistake, I am still very much grounded, feet in this soil, and more present than in recent years past to serve my beloved Austin, Dripping Springs, Driftwood, Wimberley, & Global Communities.
WHAT I KNOW TODAY is that I am devoted and so thankful to my founding community and future clients. This summer, as I took the plunge to operate beyond brick and mortar, I dedicated myself to driving to your homes for hands-on sessions, offering everyone out calls based on our current in office pricing (since 2020 without out call service fees or tips). I felt like these visits were an act resembling a love note, a way for me to show my gratitude to where we’ve been and where the future will take us. I also took the last 6 months to gauge where / how the support I could offer was most in sync with this evolution of my life’s work and lightened the grip on administrative policies, etc.
EXPERIENCE IS WISDOM Now it’s time to reintegrate some framework to ensure continued longevity and sustainability of myself and my life outside of work. Ideally we share the balance sheet.
For those of you who do not know much about my background, I’m not new to streamlining businesses, auditing line items, carrying out structure and policy, nor core customer service.
My practice is just shy of 20 years, mostly based out of commercial brick and mortar. I have always been my own boss in my practice, and have had small businesses mostly since my late 20s. Before that I led a multi-million npo in the red into the black within six months. I have worked at almost every level of luxury and mid-level hospitality, even catering a private event to a world renowned opera singer, and working in a hotel owned by a prince. I have a double degree in International Affairs and French. Although my French ebbs and flows without a lot of regular practice, I still love communication and believe that learning languages opens the door to so many cultures and conversations we would have missed out. Currently I’m learning Korean. As a teenager into college I worked 20-30 hours a week for Ben & Jerry’s in my hometown. Working hard, leaning into challenges and shapeshifting when the Universe demanded big life shifts, can be exhausting on the soul but is not new to me. And I know usually it’s for the good so I ride the wave. But many things in our lives do not need to carry added stress, which is why I like to work smart, delivering efficient, seamless sessions to my community in a way that offsets and compliments the hard work we do in healing and mind/body support.
Recently I felt the backlash of offering too much flexibility in everything from securing commitments in scheduling, to people asking me to change which days are my weekend to deliver their session on their preferred day. Loves, we do still need to come together in compromise to share the love and solvency of our evolved practice model. At the end of the day, the sustainability I’m speaking of is not sustainability luxury. It’s the minimal baseline. It’s time for the therapist to take back some administrative control of the business processes, as well as, while still leaning into some big changes also, adding back more structure for a more joyous life balance. So, I’m inviting those who can plan in advance to shape the schedule now for later. There are a few spots remaining for monthly blocks, and dependent upon their timing, they will provide last minute anchor spots to shorter neighborhood requests. Same goes for remotes. If you know you desire to continue a certain monthly commitment into March or even June, let’s discuss this now, so this area of focus can also build the framework of the months to come.
AN INVITATION, PRACTICE OFFERINGS NOW
The 2+hour in home blocks have provided a deep well of levity, healing, and connectivity for families and friends exploring bodywork together, as well as, a window in for other family members to finally understand and develop a new respect on the importance of the work that we do. These “anchor” spots can be scheduled monthly in advance to create a ritual supporting your physical health, nervous system, and a net to catch you when something is close to a tipping point. Better for me to find it before you feel it. These spots allow your community to book last minute neighborhood visits too. When you anchor the neighborhood, you take control of my scheduler too.
The 4hr+ community blocks - With a minimum of four hours committed in advance, the day is yours and I will not book around you. You have my full attention. Based on commute and volume I will negotiate breaks / special fees to balance our hard work. I encourage communities to come together and book these in a regular spot in advance to take out the guesswork and the stress of scheduling monthly. Advance notice allows me to shape the rest of the scheduler around you and your life balance.
90minute in home sessions are also still available based upon neighborhood volume and your flexibility to add onto the neighborhood once larger blocks/”anchors” are in place. The idea is that these seem to be last minute appointments in nature, or emergency based. If you are suddenly going into surgery etc, let’s talk. I organize my weeks to try to have some give to support my community during such challenges without an anchor. My heart is in this. But please keep in mind, I do have a 2 hour commute to Austin, so these are unique situations. Not every event can be an emergency.
30, 60, 90, and 2 hour sessions are available at the Wimberley Sanctuary. All options are currently offered M-F based on my prior home and remote commitments. Although I offer these daily, I am spending at least two days a week driving many hours for the above clients too, as well as, conducting remote sessions. However, if I am home and available, I am happy to support you. Currently I am also offering one dedicated Saturday monthly for hands-on in Wimberley.
Remotes are not light energy work ups. I take these as serious as I do hands-on and work with people transitioning through grieving, adult austism, cancer, head injuries, and more. I also organize my weeks, due to their heightened nature, to offer give to accept last minute support around the globe.
Thank you for continuing to support and allow me to support your beautiful life.
Tomorrow is organic. This is where we’ve landed for now. So much love.
